February 1, 2019 approximately 10:25, PO Coyle responded to 138C Espanong Rd,
Lake Hopatcong to a reported structure fire. Upon PO Coyle?s arrival he
reported smoke emitting from the residence.
Coyle, PO Wojtach, PO Saparito and Sgt. Gjelsvik entered the residence and
determined the resident(s) were not present, except for a dog, which ran out
the front door.
Companies of Jefferson Township Fire Department responded and were able to
extinguish the fire. Jefferson Township Rescue Squad also responded.
Sgt. Krater responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. His investigation
found hot ash outside a window of the residence which may be the cause of the
fire. No one was injured and the owner?s dog was reunited with him. A
significant amount of damage was caused to the residence, making it
Township OEM assisted the resident with making temporary living arrangements.
